Question: “Very curious to know what your treatment methods are for stomach ulcers or what you recommend preventatively for horses with sensitive stomachs (and the cause is not with the intestines).”
Obviously nutrition and overall management is incredibly important. Horses need to chew to produce saliva which is important for balance in the stomach. So plenty of roughage, first roughage before concentrate and preferably not training right after a concentrate meal or on an empty stomach.
Stress can play a role in stomach problems, so reducing this is also important.
Furthermore, there are supplements that can support the stomach, such as Mastic Horse, Phytonics Gastri comp or HorseFlex Stomach Balance.
